# The Democrats: list-selection statement

> The Democrats chose their list for the 26th Knesset in July 2026. 113,000 party members had the right to vote, and 87% did so. The list is gender-balanced, with men and women filling alternate places. Three places in the top 20 were reserved for candidates of Meretz origin, according to the agreements between the two origin parties. Other places were reserved for minority communities and rural communities. Since the 2024 merger, Meretz has no institutions, platform or campaign of its own, so it is not shown as a faction.
